"Should you eat differently to lose weight

after menopause?"

by Jon Benson

Publisher: Fit Over 40 - Q & A with Jon Benson

Dear Jon,

I have a copy of "Fit Over 40" and I LOVE IT! Thank you! I do seem to have a bit of a dilemma though. I was involved in a vehicle accident earlier this year and have severe nerve damage in my right arm, along with arthritis in both arms and to top it all off, menopause has decided to take over.

I will be 50 in 2 weeks, and other than these challenges, I am very healthy. I have been slim my whole life except for now. Do I have to eat or workout any different now then I did before? Because I have been told I have to eat differently because of the menopause. Do you know if that is correct? I wonder if it really is at all possible that I can rid my self of the weight that seems to have found my middle, and be fit again.

Dear Dawn,

Since you already ordered the Fit Over 40 e-book, I'm sure you have Jill Langham's report on Menopause... it was one of the bonuses that came with the Fit Over 40 e-book e-book! It's an excellent report - have you read that yet? If not, it's a MUST READ for anyone going through hormonal issues. (Note: Jill is "The Fittest Female At Fifty"!)

Your hormones have changed, and so must you. Also, you can work around any injury if you're careful. For the joints, try increasing your healthy fats (olive oil, fish oil capsules, coconut oil and some egg yolks), replacing the calories you may be currently eating from carbohydrates with this. See if that helps the arthritis and joints.

This will also help the menopause...fat and protein are the key nutrients to create hormones! Too little of either can spell disaster. Please consider what's known as an "isocaloric" diet: about 1/3 from each macronutrient: protein, carbs and fats. Do that, spread with small meals over the course of 4-5 times per day.

That, drink plenty of water, and then start walking every day, first thing in the morning prior to eating, until you can walk for 45 minutes very briskly. This will burn fat! From there, I bet you feel more like hitting the gym than ever. This is where you begin. Keep us posted!
